I actually saw some for sale at Bakery Grobe in the Ruhrgebiet last week, which surprised me, because in my region they're not sold until St. Nicholas Day. I call them Stutenkerle BTW.

For my cousin's birthday last year, she asked for a book. Surprise me. So I gave her two I thought she would enjoy. "Why two?" she asked. I said, "Well, one is from Mom and it would have been stupid to buy the same book twice, so I got you something else."

As for Mom's crime novels, romance novels and a bit of SFF, I've been gradually taking them to little free libraries in the area and they're mostly gone, when I come back, so people seem to enjoy them.

These are mostly duplicates - books I have in my own collection and gave Mom as gifts, so I really don't need them twice. I'm keeping many of the other books, though I will move them from the prime real estate in the house they are occupying now to the basement.

Ich habe manchmal was bei Momox/Medimops gekauft, weil die manchmal die einzige Möglichkeit sind, wenn man ein älteres Buch sucht. Und da habe ich wesentlich mehr gezahlt. Und beim öffentlichen Bücherschrank freut sich wenigstens jemand drüber. Mama wäre damit auch einverstanden gewesen.

Die 40 Jahr alten Bertelsmann Buchclub Schinken habe ich übrigens auch, aber die würde ich nicht mal versuchen zu verkaufen. Außerdem will ich vielleicht mal eine wissenschaftliche Abhandlung über das Werk der Marie Louise Fischer im Nachkriegsdeutschland schreiben.

DVDs und BluRays hatten meine Eltern eher weniger und die, die sie hatten, habe ich ihnen meist geschenkt. ich will ja auch nicht mal viel Geld haben, aber 15 Cent für ein drei Jahre altes, einmal gelesenes Buch sind ein Witz.

Da freut sich wenigstens jemand drüber, denn die Bücher meiner Mama sind meist schnell weg, wenn ich Nachschub bringe.

Was die einem anbieten, ist echt ein Witz. 1,67 EUR war der höchste Preis - immerhin für ein Hardcover. Ansonsten teils 15 Cent für ein Buch oder gar nichts, weil "kein Interesse". Da bringen ich die Bücher lieber zum öffentlichen Bücherschrank.

Autobahn A1 is actually the reason why I decided to visit Hohensyburg, because I'd seen the castle and the Emperor Wilhelm monument from Autobahn several times and always wondered what it was.
