If you are a leftist, how in the world do you possibly justify the concept of intellectual property? Why should people be able to control/ limit the use of/sell concepts, words, symbols, lines, information?

How in the world do you justify your preferred system as being like enclosure acts while having “abolish private property is where the left starts” in your bio
Enclosure acts were literally just drawing lines around a resource to define a bundle of rights that were transferable and private

I think a lot of people expected institutions/corporations to wield power in a way to shut down the worst excesses of a Trump presidency– rule of law, liberal democracy, and free association w/o government interference being important to the economy.

I kind of think this demonstrates less that developers are using politics to achieve their economic ends and more that people (including developers) have ideological commitments separate from what would be materially better for them.
