Then you get *marketing* which works because people don't stop to think about what they're told to like. Then it gets messy, once they've formulated opinions based on what they're told to like through that narrow lens given to them.

I'm of the camp that believes normies don't think it's "good" but rather new, and novelty is its own charm. Pair that with the natural distance a casual viewer has, and you have the perfect formula for "ooo, shiny!" Without the moral conflict of "this hurts people" because the hurt is hidden away.
