We're now learning that so many alums wrote individually. Some even gave $ to help offset the pain of the funding freeze. Sadly it made no difference. But we're not going to take this lying down.

We know how you must feel now. We're hoping to see you NU alums organize and tell the leaders that they must limit the damage. A done deal does not mean no more issues, sadly.

We're finally here. We all thought that surely some other effort would already be under way (remember "Cornell Matters"?)
Late start. Deal was just around the corner. Even the petition group was too late. Don't think it would've swayed them.
We're now stepping up to make sure things don't get worse.

It's very clear to us that alumni donations are going to plummet. Cornell's leaders need to learn not to throw our alma mater under the bus. We can't let this stand.

Some alums are telling us that they donated over the summer in hopes that cornell would not cave.
Cornell didn't seem to try very hard. Just strung people along giving them false hope.

🙁 Sorry. Can relate. Time to organize if you care about NU's long term health. Signing a deal just introduces new problems; alumni are an important constituency.

IOW, tell all your classmates/friends/neighbors who are Cornell alumni. There are 300k+ of us out there, but most alums don't know yet that we're here.
+Follow up after they say they'll sign up (!). Everyone's busy.

Just seeing this. It's so disgraceful and corrupt of them to exploit your research situation to construct their own narrative.

Especially since they
-Allowed the $1bn figure to persist, which inflated the severity.
-Failed to effectively mobilize broader alumni support.
-Had legal options.
