OK thanks - looking at some of the Courtney Library's Borlase collection today. May not be the same Carkeeks - family of builders in Redruth - a Morgan Carkeek born in 1840s emigrated to America.

I think a lot of people feel that juxtaposition through time with noughts on when we touch 'prehistoric' stones (which are much less precisely dated).

In the absence of evidence better to set out contextual reasons for interpretation - I've seen 'were likely...' and personally can't think of a 'no doubt' example.
