Taken from an email I received from the dept of veterans affairs. Destroyed the VA unions collective bargaining.

The Department of Veterans Affairs just made a big move. They've terminated collective bargaining agreements with most of their unions, affecting thousands of employees across the system.

The numbers tell quite a story. Last year alone, VA employees spent over 750,000 hours on union activities during work time. Some of these folks were making north of $200,000 a year while doing union work instead of serving veterans. The VA was also providing 187,000 square feet of office space to unions, free of charge.

Under the new policy, unions representing nurses, government employees, and service workers will lose their contracts. The only exceptions? About 4,000 police officers, firefighters, and security guards will keep their union representation.

VA Secretary Doug Collins didn't mince words about the decision. He argued that unions have been protecting bad employees while opposing reforms meant to help veterans. The unions had fought against the MISSION Act, which expanded healthcare options for veterans, and even helped reinstate over 100 employees who'd been fired for misconduct.

What this means going forward: VA managers will have more flexibility to hire, promote, and fire employees based on performance. Those 750,000 hours previously spent on union activities will be redirected to veteran services. And all that office space? It'll be converted back to clinical and administrative use.
