If she wears pretty things, a pin or scarf? comforting things for the home are nice, but if you get her something to wear, she can think about you when she's out too.

I wrote them an email and they sent back a very kind reply that my idea sounded good and they would send it to the feedback team. (I suggested that they send a yearly email inviting us to add new pets, and letting us mark "don't suggest things for this pet" for our pets who went ahead of us.)

It was really neato! I was divorced by then; we wrote the name change back *into* the divorce paperwork. (I took a second middle name, but gave it back.)

This was in Oklahoma. When my friend got married a few years later, after the officiant/witnesses signed, the license had a place for the two of them to put their new names! So that's different now.

In 1995 when I got married, we signed the license as single people, then officiant/witnesses signed. The new names weren't ON the license. Agencies decided whether that was enough to change someone's name based on how they felt about the new name. (Woman taking his = OK, man taking hers = not ok.)
