I have a sense of humour. If you lack this vital human survival-mechanism, then please show yourself to the exit. :D

Husband, father, grandfather, dog & cat rescuer, musician/artist/madman, stubbornly maintaining optimism for the future of humankind.
Have you ever been experienced?

Well... I have.

Not to say that there isn't a "cool-factor" to collecting vinyl. Nostalgia. And I do miss that 12" x 12" cover artwork. I used to hang the covers on the wall, and kept the records/sleeves in a big stack. 😆

I'd usually bounce them onto cassette. That diamond needle took a bite each time played.

Exactly. The faster the speed, the deeper the grooves (and wider separation between grooves), the higher the quality... but limited storage-space. 33rpm LP was a huge compromise for that "long-play".

The first CD I bought in the '80s was Boston's debut. It blew my mind. I abandoned vinyl for good.

When someone claims, "Vinyl is the way it was meant to be heard.", they're wrong. Old analog recordings were mastered on TEAC 1/4" reel-to-reel @ 15ips (inches-per-second) -- digital WAVE files are exact reproductions of those masters.

Vinyl was a way to cheaply mass-produce music for the masses.

Or the limited dynamic range of vinyl.
CD WAVE files recreate the full audio spectrum of 20hz to 20,000hz.
33rpm LP is only about 100hz to 16,000hz.
45rpm singles have much better quality.

Digital MP3 files also have limited range due to reduced sampling-rate and data compression algorithms.

I'm surprised this one hasn't come up yet:

Damn... I've done it now... they're on to me.

I believe it was $15 a year... so that my enemies couldn't find me so easily. 😆

I remember when I un-listed my phone number, back in the 80s or 90s?

Phone-books... when everybody was in there, and it cost money to remove yourself.

That's an odd form of extortion.

I think Australia has bugs like that. 😆

I had always loved Elton John and Billy Joel from a very young age, but the first that "left me mesmerized"? -- That honour goes to Dennis DeYoung of STYX.

His synthesizer solos made every hair on my body stand at attention. A perfect pairing to James Young's face-melting guitar solos.

Well said, Billy. 😀👍
I was a hard-rock / metal guy in my youth, and was officially "required" to hate Disco. I felt ashamed back then of my secret fondness of ABBA. 😆 Not ashamed anymore.

I love the BeeGees now too. Good music is good music, genre be damned. 😀 Dave Grohl seems to agree.

We could rephrase the question as, what's another great song that needs MORE cowbell? 🤣

That gag never gets old. 😆

That's no moon. That's a... oh wait... yeah, that's a moon. 🤣

What about the Cottonelle kittens?

We could save trees. Wipe your ass with a kitten... they're self-cleaning and reusable... they should probably be de-clawed first.

I want to kill Care-Bears... and rip out their innards and eat their flesh... but save their carcasses to make nice hats or gloves.

Am I a "bad" man? 😆

Like the old saying goes, "If you don't have anything nice to say, make sure you say it in person, with no witnesses."

I live in southern Ontario (the southernmost part of Canada) and some years back there was a major solar-storm, and I witnessed a rare and beautiful aurora overhead.

And that night my TV and a computer were fried beyond repair. Lord only knows how much radiation us biological organisms absorbed.
November 12, 2025 at 11:37 PM
They're beautiful, yes, but seeing the Aurora Borealis so far south is a reason for concern.

Maybe if Donald wants people to shop more he could stop hurling the American economy straight down the toilet.

His billionaire buddies getting all the breaks don't spend much time in shopping malls.
