New characters were all killing it. Whitney is bringing levity (I'm betting there is a lot more under the surface), Robbie is bringing sexy back, Alex is bringing refined goth, and Aabria looks to be bringing the moral and perhaps nurturing backbone of the group.

I don't have enough of a baseline for Ashley, but considering the context of the campaign and what little we've gotten, this looks to be her most serious character yet. I have a hard time seeing Ashley Johnson playing a character that doesn't have an adorkable side, though.

Sam's family is sketchy AF. Besides the obvious hypocrisy from the flashback and comment about their god being "conveniently voiceless," I also find it SUPER convenient they have demons around. Get to pretend to be missionaries while also having tools for nefarious deeds & targets to take the fall.

Finished the first episode of the new Critical Role. Really political, really complex character relationships. Matt, now out of forever DM jail, is wasting no time playing someone who wants all the smoke. Liam, Travis, and Tal all feels on brand. Marisha is finally embracing her Kentucky roots.

They're really going to want to have their "UP" moment with this. Will it work out? Idk, might not if it clashes too hard with the way Illumination does the rest of the move. But I like Rosalina and LOVE SMG so I'm looking forward to whatever mess emerges.

King usually likes to deal in grandiose, cosmic ideas that can't be grasped. Something as humble as vampires feels right for this type of intimate novel. It's not the scariest thing in the world, but it has a unique vibe.

First time reading Stephen King's "Salem's Lot" for October. Wanted something that feels like a true Halloween classic. As someone who grew up in a very small town, I LOVE the characterization of the sleepy & haunted Salem's Lot, and the language King used to achieve this is fantastic.
