Exploring the cataclysm in the Heart (IC1805) and SN Remnant (HB3) - HOO
The Heart Nebula gets its name from its shape, which resembles a human heart. It spans about 200 light-years across and contains intricate filaments of glowing gas and dark dust. HB3 (bottom left) is thought to be several tens of thousands of years old, meaning the supernova explosion that created it occurred long ago, but its remnants are still detectable. The explosion that caused HB3 was a Type II supernova, which occurs when a massive star exhausts its nuclear fuel and collapses under its own gravity. Heart Nebula (IC805) and It's Exploding Heart (HB3)

First image in a while. Have been working on a few different projects!

The Heart Nebula gets its name from its shape, which resembles a human heart.
HB3 type II SN (bottom left), thought to have occurred tens of thousands years ago.

Quick process from a few hours last night. Ha only - trying to capture a Supernova west of the Heart. Realise now that I had my coordinates right but alignment/angle completely wrong! Waste of a precious good night's imaging time. 😭

The Jewels of Cygnus (Sept 2023)

One of my favourite images, just so much going on. Crescent, Tulip, Cygnus Ring, Soap bubble Nebulae, Revenant of the Swan and a bow shock from Cygnus X1 (15 solar mass black hole)

The Jewels of Cygnus NGC 6888: also known as the Crescent Nebula, is a about 25 light-years across blown by winds from its central, bright, massive star. Visible within the nebula, NGC 6888's central star is classified as a Wolf-Rayet star (WR 136). The star is shedding its outer envelope in a strong stellar wind, ejecting the equivalent of the Sun's mass every 10,000 years. Tulip Nebula: The Tulip Nebula is an emission nebula located in the Cygnus constellation, about 6,000 lightyears away. Known also as Sh2-101, the whole region is 70 lightyears wide and glows as a result of powerful young stars ionising cosmic gas and causing it to emit light. WR-134: is a variable Wolf-Rayet star located around 6,000 light years away from Earth in the constellation of Cygnus. The blue arc was created when the outer layer blown off from the star, collided with the nebula surrounding the star. Other interesting objects are on display, such as the soap bubble nebula and close by the Revenant of the Swan (center far left)

The Cygnus Veil Complex refers to a prominent and expansive supernova remnant located in the constellation Cygnus, also known as the Veil Nebula. This nebula is one of the most famous and spectacular remnants of a supernova explosion that occurred approximately 10,000 to 20,000 years ago. It's a beautiful and complex structure with intricate filamentary features that stretch across a large region of the sky. The complex is made up of several subregions, each with its own distinct characteristics. Western Veil (NGC 6960): Also known as the "Witch's Broom Nebula. Eastern Veil (NGC 6992/6995): AKA the bat nebula. Pickering's Triangle (NGC 6979): A more diffuse section of the Veil Nebula, located between the Western and Eastern Veils.

North American, Pelican and Clam Shell Nebulae - Sept 2024 #Astrophotography
Two panel Mosaic - HOO The North America Nebula, also known as NGC 7000, is a large emission nebula located in the constellation Cygnus, near the star Deneb. It gets its name because its shape closely resembles the continent of North America, with the prominent "Gulf of Mexico" region being particularly recognizable. The nebula is part of a larger complex that also includes the Pelican Nebula (IC 5070), which is situated just west. SH2-119 - The Clamshell nebula has a distinctive arc-like structure resembling the shape of a clamshell, giving it its nickname. This arc is part of a larger complex of emission nebulosity in the region. The area around SH2-119 is rich in other nebulae and star clusters.

Cave Nebula The Cave Nebula, also known as Sh2-155, is a striking emission nebula located 2400 light years away in the constellation Cepheus. The nebula gets its nickname, "Cave Nebula," from its appearance, resembling the entrance to a cave. Bubble Nebula The Bubble Nebula, also known as NGC 7635, is an extraordinary emission nebula located approximately 9000 light years away in the constellation Cassiopeia. It gets its name from the distinctive, spherical "bubble" shape created by the interaction between a massive star's stellar wind and the surrounding interstellar material. Lobster Claw The Lobster Claw Nebula, also known as Sh2-157, is a fascinating emission nebula located 8000 light years away in the constellation Cassiopeia. Its unique shape, resembling a lobster’s claw. M52 Star Cluster Messier 52 (M52) is a beautiful open star cluster located in the constellation Cassiopeia. It is one of the many star clusters cataloged by the French astronomer Charles Messier in the 18th century.
