I'm not disagreeing with this post, but as for the assertion that taking steps to curb dogwhistling & tacit support would just make the alt-right stronger, I have to point you to Lula et al. in Brazil sweeping the board with Bolsonaro, his regime, & their messaging & party. That shit WORKED.

Bourdain was a unique PoV writer in that he was a strange man with strange perspectives & opinions, that was his whole schtick! Same with the legendary Hunter S. Thompson! Nobody "got" H.S. Thompson, not even his closest friends! That's WHY YOU HIRED HIM!!
