I had Nano Banana explain #transhumanism in the style of R. Crumb. Color me impressed!

I’m working on a new post about the ways that current AI systems are primarily a perfection of this Wétigo force. Stay tuned….

It’s important to revisit influential books from the past and evaluate their promises. For example, in Sapiens (2011), Yuval Harari says that we will soon have resurrected Wooly Mammoths, cyborg insects, and cyborg sharks. None of these has yet materialized.

I’ve been thinking lately about how #AI is a great tool for laundering dubious ideas and lending them the patina of objective rationality

I did not know that George Lucas was that explicit about Star Wars! From @adambecker.bsky.social ’s wonderful new book about the strange Silicon Valley ideologies driving tech innovation

I decided to check out Meta's new social AI thing or whatever it is and this is the first thing I saw. So that's how that went. You will find me in the forest asking nature question now...

I’ve never understood the appeal of #golf but one of my favorite brunch spots is on a golf course so I began wondering about the origins. Love that #Gemini’s first paragraph is about the timelessness of “stick and ball games”

In addition to the other 99 problems with #seasteading the thing I would miss is trees, man 🌳

This is why it's so important that we have people with humanities degrees and emotional intelligence working the field. Reminds me of a similar post by Yann. "Emotions are anticipation of outcome?" Bro, do you even feel?

We as a country are the passengers on the imploding Titan submersible piloted by an egotistical, regulation-hating rich guy, except 2/3 of us didn’t sign up for this

Been thinking about this quote about the limits of AI systems from @shannonvallor.bsky.social a lot lately. I highly recommend AI Mirror if you haven’t read it. It’s been hugely influential on my book about AI and human faculties outside of cognitive intelligence

I've been planning to watch Judgment at Nuremberg for a while but watching it now feels like homework 😒

So of course the first thing I asked Google Gemini’s #DeepResearch was to solve the hard problem of #consciousness

The report was really impressive but, sadly, it’s still not solved ☹️

I don't know when #midjourney added the ability to include specific phrases in quotes but that is absolutely a game changer in AI image generation!
