Yeah, we're bare minimum this year. Still hosting the brunch on the 25th, but almost everything has been store bought in advance because we just... can't manage to cook this year. Discussed it with my therapist and he agreed, they're just fucking off to Florida when they usually host a big to-do.

Two days ago

utilities guy says the sparks I saw were a part on the top of the transformer straight up breaking off. He's gone back to the dispatch to get a replacement.

Power's still out, utilities is working on it. Learned that ICE hit a house on our street earlier this morning and took the dad. Pretty sure why some asshole turned his family in, and we all know it's a bullshit reason. Some discussion on pooling money and food for his family, nothing concrete yet.

Managed to cobble together about two hours of sleep. Power's still out.

On the other hand, some of my most heinous customers when I still worked retail were also service workers (some ex-coworkers!) because they knew even better than other customers exactly what to say and do to make your time with them miserable. There are assholes who only learn enough to weaponize.
