I kinda like it, and the SG1000 port is surprisingly okay.

Check out what directors and C-suite are pushing for: emails summaries, meetings summaries, write emails faster... That's their idea of work, because that's all they do. *They* could easily be replaced by a randomness-based lying machine. Wouldn't change a thing, actually.

It easily generates code that is easily written by hand, and is slightly wrong in dangerous ways about everything else. So it eases the work of mediocre developers, it prevents them from growing (since they aren't learning anything), and it does nothing for good developers.

It *is* a random picture from her phone.

It's just that 90% of her camera roll consists of pictures of The Ooze. So, "random" is very relative, you know.

It's actually the fourth such extension - fifth if you count the trackball/spinner. It's simply the first one to have third party games. It's really cool ! Although the Technos selection is really strange, the Data East one is very solid.

Honestly even back then I never understood why people liked these games. They're clunky and very limited.

The prequels were so disappointing! It's like they were a completely different series. They honestly shouldn't have bothered.

Is the shmup that bad? I never played it much but the little I did felt ok, or at least on par with the rest of the era.

You don't have to go very deep in music genres to find words that have no meaning. As soon as there are people passionate about the genre they will define subgenres that are meaningless to other people.

Admittedly they are extremely difficult to do right: that they actually test what they pretend that they test, and writing code in a way that doesn't require tests rewrite when the code changes a bit, is extremely difficult. That's often the result of tests being second grade code citizens.

Dunno about games but for large enterprise software I don't see how you can have stability without tests. Because you have multiple teams of people that are not top notch with some turnover, and unit tests catch so many regressions.

Oh yeah one of the most difficult thing to do right, and which your system stability relies on, let the randomly lying machine do that, great idea!

It's bewildering to me to see that JRPG can have negative connotations. In France we had a *lot* of japanese media in the 80s, we love that shit (1st manga importers), and when people say "it's not a JRPG bc it's not made in JP", it's more often a negative remark.

"welp, now I know"

Yeah started doing the same, then just added things that rang a bell or looked cool.

I kind of agree, but on the other hand, it's the same issue in all domains. You can explain something complex up to a point, but then you have to switch to specialized, technical terms. Try to explain in details how an engine works without using the word "camshaft".
