DH has told us where he expects the club to be in 2030 so it’s fair to hold him to that plan.

With a timeline that aggressive you can’t afford to just write a season off. Without a managerial change or strengthening of the squad in Jan, that’s what they’ve done.

Classic Ashley move

I guess it depends how advanced it was before the story broke (assuming the story is true)
February 2, 2026 at 6:26 PM
Can you really see this happening at this stage?
February 2, 2026 at 6:18 PM
Can’t really blame players wanting to be away to be honest. They were sold a vision that the club hasn’t followed through on.

On the pitch they worked miracles for 3 years but even the manger is out of ideas now. Feels like we’ll be starting again.

I think it’s going to be a transformational summer either way.

Think we’ll lose a few big names and for me it’s a question of whether we trust Howe to rebuild the squad.
February 2, 2026 at 2:16 PM
I’d snap your hand off for 7th right now. Any European football feels unlikely.

Even if we did finish 15th would you keep Howe next season?

That’s a ball power play

Er Eddie
January 31, 2026 at 11:34 PM
Aye, I was absolutely stunned
January 31, 2026 at 11:33 PM
Don’t disagree in theory. Just don’t think the 2 names mentioned will come. Alonso waiting for Liverpool and don’t think Klopp will manage in England again.

Maybe Ancelotti after the World Cup.
January 27, 2026 at 7:00 AM
I’m Howe out but I don’t think Alonso or Klopp is realistic
January 26, 2026 at 7:41 PM
The summer was undoubtably a difficult situation but the signings we made were the ones Eddie wanted and even he won’t start them. We spent 67m on a player whose best position doesn’t exist in our managers system. A system which he refuses to change even when chasing a game. He has got to go.
January 26, 2026 at 8:30 AM
If anything, he’s not harsh enough.
January 25, 2026 at 9:12 PM
Motta, terzic, tedesco, hurzela, iraola, gasperini, schmidt, roy…

No worries if you want Howe to stay but let’s not pretend there isn’t a long list of potential candidates
January 25, 2026 at 7:30 PM
I’m prone to over analyse so to keep it simple. Howe is not currently doing a good job and hasn’t for some time.

He should be replaced.
January 25, 2026 at 6:12 PM
Fair challenge on motta. Juve are a basket case and his replacement lasted even less time as did the board. Outstanding at Bologna.

I don’t think Alonso or Fabregas are realistic to be honest. Could be wrong.

I also like Iraola and hurzela.
January 25, 2026 at 6:05 PM
Plenty of decent options out there but I think I’d go with Motta if achievable
January 25, 2026 at 5:28 PM
Give me a shout in May and let me know where we finished in the ‘what the result could have been’ table.
January 25, 2026 at 4:41 PM
If we’ve learned anything this season, it’s that we’re not revamping tactics unless it’s Howe out.
January 25, 2026 at 4:40 PM
Ref had very little impact on the game.

We were poor again and if we want to talk about spineless, where is the courage to change things when it’s not working?

It’s the premier league. You can’t have 1 system that you stick to regardless of situation and opposition, but here we are.
January 25, 2026 at 4:31 PM
But it didn’t.

Because we didn’t attack well enough and didn’t defend well enough.
January 25, 2026 at 4:28 PM
If it helps I thought he should be replaced on Thursday morning
January 25, 2026 at 4:12 PM
Baffling take to be honest so I’ll just leave it there
January 25, 2026 at 4:10 PM
That’s the mentality that will stop us closing the gap
