Thank you to Mayor Stefan Roots of Chester City for backing my bill to stop Philly from burning its trash in Chester.

Chester families have been forced to breathe our waste. I introduced the Stop Trashing Our Air Act to keep trash out of our lungs and sky, both in Chester and here in Philly.

Addressing our city’s housing crisis means seizing this historic opportunity to support the 200,000 households earning under $30,000 a year — families who are just one maintenance emergency or rent hike away from homelessness. whyy.org/articles/hom...
Here’s what’s inside Philly Mayor Parker’s proposed budget for H.O.M.E. plan
Some advocates say the proposed H.O.M.E budget doesn't go far enough in prioritizing low-income residents.

I am humbled to be nominated for a SustainPHL award in the Rising Tide category.

As City Council's Environmental Chair, I am working hard to lead Philly into a greener future.

Do you like breathing in trash? Me neither.

I introduced the Stop Trashing Our Air Act to stop Philly from burning trash. It’s making our communities — and our neighbors in Chester — sick.

Today's the day! After years of construction, the Martin Luther King Jr Drive Bridge is OPEN!

This is a crucial connection between West Philly and the rest of our city. And thanks to the new protected shared-use path, pedestrians and cyclists can make the trip seven days a week.

The Stop Trashing Our Air Act would prohibit the City from contracting with companies that profit by turning our trash into pollution and sickness.

Let's do what's right for our health, our neighbors in Chester, and our planet and stop trashing our air!

I'm introducing the Stop Trashing Our Air Act to end our role in perpetuating environmental racism through trash incineration.

The City's work to build a safer, cleaner, and greener Philly shouldn't come at the cost of making our neighbors sicker, dirtier, and less safe.

I joined DA Krasner for a town hall on how our community can respond if Trump sends the National Guard into our neighborhoods. Neighbors came together to learn our rights and build community.

We won't stand idly by as Trump tries to turn the birthplace of democracy into the graveyard of freedom.

We celebrated the new 47th Street bike lane with a ride through the neighborhood! It was beautiful seeing parents and young people enjoying the good weather on bikes.

Traffic violence is real violence, and it is preventable. Let's keep working together to make every street and achieve Vision Zero.

Excited to join my friends with the Philadelphia Coalition for Affordable Communities at their first day of Council rally!

We're fighting to use the City's $800 million investment in affordable housing to prioritize the 200,000+ Philadelphia households that are on the brink of homelessness.

Good news! Two pieces of legislation I introduced to expedite the creation of affordable housing are now law!

At our current pace, it will take more than 200 years to build enough affordable housing to meet the need. These commonsense steps will get families into affordable homes sooner.

Trump plans to give polluters free rein to spew toxic chemicals into our air, water, and soil.

Take a stand for our health and safety by commenting against repealing the EPA's Endangerment Finding: cleanaircouncil.salsalabs.org/critical_cli...

I spent Labor Day with our union siblings!

These are dark times, but I feel hopeful when I remember unions are still fighting the good fight at the negotiating table, in the union hall, on the picket line, and in the workplace.

City Council will always stand with the workers who power Philly.

When UPenn became the first university in Philly to effectively erase its DEI policies, it felt like a slap in the face for alum @councilmemberjg.bsky.social. She urges her alma mater to make diversity a core principal.
Jamie Gauthier to Penn: Do the Right Thing on DEI
City Councilmember Jaime Gauthier urges the University of Pennsylvania to make DEI an ethical and core operating principle (again)

If a deal isn't reached soon, state lawmakers should enact Rep. Shusterman's legislation that ties state funding to regions based on the share of tax revenue they contribute. At what point do we stop allowing bad-faith, destructionist politicians to hold us hostage with our own money? (3/3)

Harrisburg Republicans need to go back to the Capitol and work with their Democratic colleagues to enact a state budget that fully funds mass transportation. (2/3)
councilmemberjg.bsky.social
Apparently, Senate Republicans are willing to sacrifice the health, safety, and prosperity of Pennsylvania if that means hurting Philly. Regardless of your political party, where you live, or how you travel, reliable public transportation benefits you. (1/3)

In West and Southwest Philly, riding SEPTA is a necessity, not a choice. We rely on transit to get to work or school and access essentials like healthcare and groceries.

By refusing to fund mass transit, Senate Republicans are playing with fire, and the consequences will ripple across PA.

I welcomed Governor Shapiro to West Philly for a visit with Beyond the Bars! Beyond the Bars disrupts the cycle of violence and makes us all safer by giving our young people a productive outlet to build community and learn.

The Freedom Now Rally is a proud moment in our community’s history. And it is only appropriate that we draw on this fighting spirit as we navigate this dark and turbulent time.

Let's show the world that, just like Dr. King, we will always be drum majors for justice, peace, and righteousness.(2/2)
