It’s so easy to feel overwhelmed and helpless. To feel like we’re drowning and always in survival mode. It’s hard to set limits, and know when to take a step back to breathe and relax…or to still find joy in everyday life. Art is my rebellion and my peace in all the chaos.

Absolutely. I think of the sentiment that artists frequently encounter - the expectation to work for free, or being villainized for our prices. No other profession struggles with that, at least to the severity that artists do. Our work is WORTH it! We have bills, too. We deserve to live!

Ireland declaring a permanent universal basic income for artists is the validation creators need — how VITAL our work is. The monetary, cultural, & intrinsic value of art is palpable. THIS is reputable proof of that. How much better would societies run if EVERYONE had a UBI?! It’d be life-changing.
