Milos Karol, a lucky loser in Roanne ranked just inside the top 400, just defeated Pablo Carreno Busta, 7-6 in the third.

PCB was up 5-2 in the third and was smiling and joking. Perhaps a bit too soon. 🎾

To me, what’s troublesome are the players he’s lost to.

All but three were players ranked below him. And by a lot. Many outside the top 50 and a few even outside the top 100.

And six first-match exits.

If he hadn’t redlined at Indian Wells and Barcelona, he’d be in a very bad spot right now.

Learner Tien has low tolerance for bullshit, but he's too polite to say anything.
courttheory.bsky.social
Wasn't that the third treatment for cramps that Medvedev received? 🤔🎾
courttheory.bsky.social
Huh. Yeah, maybe that’s it. 🤦🏻‍♂️

So, this is Daniil Medvedev "being an adult" in his career, huh?
courttheory.bsky.social
He was suspended after the Kyrgios incident. Didn't seem to do much.
courttheory.bsky.social
Medvedev seems to think this problem is everyone's except his. 🙄

So, now Medvedev is getting a chair massage, and the supervisor is helping him change his clothes.

What are we doing here, people?!? 🎾

Only if there's like an accident.

Doing this before a tiebreak was completely unfair to Tien.

Medvedev had cramping issues in Beijing, too, which forced him to retire against Learner Tien (which Learner must have in the back of his mind).

He can change his coaches all he wants, but he needs help with his body. 🎾

What is Mohamed Lahyani doing?!?
courttheory.bsky.social
There we go. Back to the bread and butter of grinding out points instead of trying to go too big too early.

Tien’s gone missing against a player who is fighting cramps.
courttheory.bsky.social
Aaaaannnnd he’s lost both points at net in this tiebreak 🫠
courttheory.bsky.social
Tien might be thinking he’s best off if he keeps Medvedev in these long rallies because eventually Medvedev will physically fold.

But he can absolutely come into the net. Against Moutet, he came in 49 times and won 57% of those points. 🎾

Felix is looking stronger and stronger as the year wears on.

During the U.S. Open, I commented that something has changed.

It’s not just a winning streak. Something is lighter about Felix. There’s a joyousness to his being that went missing for a few years.

And *this* is good for everyone.

Meanwhile, Griekspoor left the court and appeared to be looking for cameras that could potentially capture whatever he’s about to do to release his very obvious anger. 🫠🎾

Wow, what a match for Valentin Vacherot.

But this is about so much more than one match for him. 🥹🎾

Another (sometimes) fun player to watch sullied by personality 🫤

Munar spaced out in the first game of this third set and got broken from up 40-15.

Then he decided to take his frustration out by complaining about Djokovic, which has come back to bite him in the ass in two ways:

-He's lost his focus
-He gave Djokovic the external adversity he thrives on
