I think this is significant outside of art too - even in technical fields or desk jobs, the vibe is that we should only be asked to do things we already know how to do without having to do any work to learn or research on our own. Ppl just expect to be able to rely on talent or intuition to succeed.

It's a game, it's not zero sum. Theater kids can play twice as much as the math kids and the math kids can still play the same amount as before.
