What does Steam gain from allowing everyone? Being the best, favorite platform for devs and most players. With occassional huge success from indies which wouldn't happen otherwise.

The question is more, what do you gain from arbitrary closing down access?...

Well Switch got its revenge and is the console for JRPGs, N64 issue was about cartridges sizes, which incidentally is also an issue on Switch 2...

Thankfully third parties will still release games massicely on Switch 2 thanks to digital stores. Not so much physical...

The message is clear: Nintendo exclusively wants AAAs and the highest popular indies on their shiny new system.

Thank god for Steam for giving those "popular indies" discoverability in the first place, because everyone starts small and they did too.

One awful aspect of #GamePass increase no one is talking about...

Players will no longer try "creative games they don't know about" because they'll have to justify the high cost of their subscription. Only safe bets. Last nail in the coffin of small indies for GamePass.
