These are SPECTACULAR! Each bloom is wider than my outstretched hand.

What variety is yours? I love the true reds!!

They don’t smell as nice but these Double Knockouts should bloom most of the summer. This is my first full year with them and I’m delighted. I forget what the yellow is, I forgot to look at the tag.

Dang, I should have thought to give you the recipe! No eggs! :-)

Ok, maybe I’ll start storing my bench flour in the freezer. Hmmm. But in the meantime I’ll relax, thanks!!

Dang, I want the recipe! Hurry up with the dang book! :-)

We’re having homemade pasta with bay scallops and wild shrimp. My citrus club box came today so I threw some mandarins in the sauce.

Nice! I did whole wheat pizzas yesterday and we’re having leftovers tonite. Sooooo good!

I do the same thing, I premix my “mixed grains”, just for my own sanity.

Dang, I’m getting good at this thing! :-)

flour, and I’d put it in a (hopefully, but you know sandwich bags) sealed bag on the door of the fridge. So, Risky? Or not?

My blues are blooming already!

That sounds interesting!

This is what I’m using (I am cutting back on the vinegar to 1 tablespoon.)

Let me know if you do, I’d love to hear if you like it!!

I’ve been playing with “The Approachable Loaf” recipe from WSU’s The Bread Lab. It makes a nice sandwich loaf. Of course, I have serious trouble actually following a recipe, so this uses a thick apple cider instead of water. :-) Really tasty!

My large lilacs are just buds, but the smallest #Bonsai bush is in full bloom. The slightly larger purple bush (not pictured) will be next. They were kept in the greenhouse all winter so they’re ahead of everything else.

The oak is waking up.

I found this tree maybe 6? years ago, growing in the gravel ditch by the barn road. My husband had been mowing it for years, he couldn’t see it in the grass. We dug it up & put it in this pot and it makes me happy.

It depends on your budget, but there are several really good home mills available these days, both electric and manual. I really love my Komo.

Well, haven’t gotten to the cookies yet, but the bread came out well!!

Whole-grain Apple Cider #Sourdough with heritage flours and dried flours for extra fiber.

The levain, waiting for the flour & liquid, making me feel guilty…
March 26, 2025 at 8:48 PM
Id probably get a better crumb if I didn’t get bored easily! :-) That’s 100g water, 272g very pulpy apple cider, and 2 tablespoons Apple vinegar. It tastes REALLY good, though! :-)

I probably do go overboard on the wheat and grain. :-) But I NEED all those varieties to make bread! :-)

If you do get some dried beans, I can walk you thru my “recipe”.
March 13, 2025 at 4:03 AM
Yes, I order a box every year or so. I just stocked up again. :-) I try to keep a year supply on hand, we fix chili a couple times a month, sometimes more.

I love their Domingo Rojo beans so that’s what I concentrate on.

Rancho Gordo beans are so fresh I never soak them. It took me less than 90 minutes to make this chili tonite, from the time I dumped the dried beans into beef broth to sitting down to eat.

You want to make sure the corn is already nixtamalized. (You can do that step yourself but, frankly, it sounds like a pain! <g>)

Posole is corn that’s already been treated, so this is good to go!
