Station sign at Bath today says all train tickets are "off peak" this week. No mention when you buy using their app last week! Spoke to train manager & he said yes the app is bad, but it's no worse than any other train service app!! Great strap line: "We are no worse than any other train company!"😂😱

Just nipped to my local Garden Centre to get some advice on how to hang the baubles on my Christmas Tree. They told me to try another branch ... 🎅🏻😂 Merry Christmas!

So @teamlabouruk.bsky.social want growth. Running a business for 20 years & I am clearly not a 'working person'. They have taxed me through NI increases, pension relief, dividends, inheritance tax, savings, mansion tax because I did my house up, oh & also entrepreneurial tax 'if' I finally retire.

"Core inflation, which excludes energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices, rose by 3.4 per cent, down from 3.5 per cent in September." Says @thetimes.com ... So it is still prices going up and the exclusions are what affects most people anyway!

Time for a flat white from my new bean to cup machine. Loving the indulgence, but unable to nail any barista artwork! Yet. Just read that some coffee a day is good for you too ... www.thetimes.com/article/c7fb...

Collins Dictionary informs us that 2025’s “word of the year” is “vibe coding”, the amateur practice of using AI to write computer code. I love watching how our use of words has changed over the years ... but I still don't understand what a 'meme' is!

Never grow old. Daughter seems to have created a pumpkin of those potato faces that were available for tea when I was a child!

Was approached by a man today who told me it was me in the painting of the Jolly Drinker at The Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. I will let you be the judge of the similarity of the painting & the description!

Big research on why Skipping is not an Olympic sport, why it is so efficient (does one leg get a rest while the other does 2 steps?) and why grown adults don't skip more into town or to get a bus! We also concluded it is impossible to be sad while skipping!

If you have a new conker & beat someone who has a three’er. Does yours become a four’er, or do you become a one’er.
Much dispute over this rule here!
I believe the former, but that could mean eventually someone’s conker could become a 5 million, 4 hundred thousand, & forty two’er! What say you?

If you know me well, you will know I love the outdoors & one of my quotes says "no creative idea ever happens at a desk"! Well, tomorrow, I have been invited to attend, with an open mind, an outdoor 'untamed off-grid session' with some other people, mostly unknown to me. I shall report back.

Oh & did I mention she is launching a fab book called Domination. Worth a read, especially if you recognise that Christianity is basically a wealthy business that has spread across the world. Book available from @toppingsbath.bsky.social ☺️ @profaliceroberts.bsky.social
What an educational & engaging evening with The Professor of Public Engagement in Science @profaliceroberts.bsky.social at The Forum in Bath last night. Talking for nearly 2 hrs without notes, remembering many complex Latin & Roman names discussing the evolution of the Roman empire & Christianity.👍🏻
