My days are filled with walking dogs, doing dishes, playing guitar, taking pictures, reading books, and making tv shows. Maybe not in that order.
Are they proud she would have refused them?

"Yes" she explained.

When was the last time Trump told the truth?

MAGA thinks the law is what's wrong with America.

They read Ayn Rand, they know the difference between indispensable heroes (as they fancy themselves) and everyone else who, by definition, is dispensable.

MAGA wants a return to the dual state of Jim Crow, where "betters" were above the law.

Money is speech, therefore money talks.

SCOTUS ruled that any law limiting money's freedom of speech is unconstitutional. That the money speaks on behalf of the person who stole it from others is irrelevant to its right of that money to petition Trump for a pardon.

For the same reason he pardoned their money-launderers: He got paid to do it.

Carney recognizes that America is no longer a good faith player, that 1/2 of all Americans, or more, see bad faith as “smart.”

That is: Trump and MAGA are symptoms, the problem of American embrace of bad faith will outlast them.

He's wealthy, and so like Epstein is one of the "my wealth means laws don't matter" club.

Republicans will never hold a Republican liable for his criminality.

Nixon proved to them that doubling down on criminality was better than admitting it. It's why GWBush pardoned every Iran-Contra criminal.

It's why they all remained silent as every violent 1/6 conspirator was pardoned.

This was also Joe Lieberman and Dick Cheney's dream state.
November 29, 2025 at 10:24 PM
Alternative explanation: The president is leveraging the threat of war to get Venezuela to give him his cut of its wealth.

IOW: It's a shakedown in full public view, and the brazenness of it is why the media and GOP will pretend it is anything else.
November 29, 2025 at 10:22 PM
MAGA is a lawless movement, and so America's word is now worthless.
November 29, 2025 at 4:03 PM
What's the inflation number for the same period?
November 29, 2025 at 3:36 PM
Most Republican governors have voting bases independent of Trump, so they're the first off the sinking ship.
November 29, 2025 at 3:34 PM
And I think these, and the examples of others who resigned, speaks to my point.

There is no honor in giving, "passing along," or obeying a dishonorable order.
November 29, 2025 at 3:28 PM
I'm far from "carping about the military.'

Honor, and dishonor, are found in what we actually do.

Unlike Mai Lai or Abu Ghraib, the thread of this dishonor goes at least to the SecDef's office, so all between him and the dead seamen would seem to have failed to act honorably.
November 29, 2025 at 6:40 AM
"Thompson was condemned and ostracized by many individuals in the United States military and government, as well as the public, for his role in the investigations and trials concerning the Mỹ Lai massacre."

The story is of three honorable men and a dishonorable military.

I'd hope for more honor.
November 29, 2025 at 5:38 AM
To put this another way: Do you think that by some mechanism *only* dishonorable members of the military were deployed to the Central and South American coasts to murder civilians?
November 29, 2025 at 5:27 AM
Do you deny those are the people carrying out Trump/Hegeth's orders to kill survivors of their strikes?
November 29, 2025 at 5:24 AM
You lumped. Why?
November 29, 2025 at 5:22 AM
To put this another way: Show me the honorable service members who refused to murder civilians when ordered to do so.

To be clear, not all service members have been ordered to do so, so they get the presumption of honor.
November 29, 2025 at 5:19 AM
Reading is fundamental. My comment cannot be reasonably taken as global condemnation of all of anyone.
November 29, 2025 at 5:13 AM
I did not lump anyone.

Those who pull the trigger know who they are.

Those who obey orders to murder civilians know who they are.
November 29, 2025 at 4:31 AM
Spare us all the "few bad apples" line when no member of the armed forces has been accused of refusing to murder civilians. Not. One.

Honor and dishonor are about what people actually do.
