Senators in the democratic coalition negotiated an end to the 40-day Gov. shutdown. While I think it might turn out to be the right call, SNAP is a moral imperative, and ending ACA subsidies will be a black eye for repub midterms, it still sucks. US status quo is donor class policy for all.

Huge issue for me as well. Imagine the sheer knowledge transfer to interested kids from established mentors in whatever field they pick. 18 months of real-world hydrology? Amazing.

I talk about this to anyone who will listen. I like the flavor of mandatory paid service doing exactly these things. We knit America together by knowing who we are, by working together to serve other Americans. Some dude from Idaho works with some lady from New York, and suddenly we see each other.

Platner is a no-go, full stop. Nazis can fuck right off. His "redemption" story can be someplace that isn't public office. Also, if we indulge the fiction for a second, it's very concerning that a dude has a nazi tattoo for years and doesn't know it's a nazi tattoo. Something, something, smell test.
