Has anyone ever done the whole "print your own transfer decals" thing on non specialist paper?

Any advise? Any processes that were followed?

Boosts welcome
#fedihelp
Spent the evening making #lego Darth Vader with my son.

This is about 3 hours, compressed down to about 90 seconds 🤣

#crafty
My Easter week(end) #sewing projects for MrsT are finally complete. Now to start on the sewing projects for me 😬
A photograph of 14 hangers with clothes on them.

One is a t-shirt (unaltered), one is a shirt (made by me previously, but button holes were too big, so needed closing up.

It's not clear from the picture, but 5 are strapless dresses, to which strap loops (and detachable straps) have been added, one is a ribbon bow shoulder strap dress, where one strap has been removed entirely and the other formed into a simple single shoulder strap, another has the ribbon bow straps converted into a plaited cross back, and 8 of them have had their hems lifted by 2-3" each.
[Resin model female presenting figurine with exposed nipple]

The "nipple drip" oil is a separate piece of resin that isn't permanently attached, so here she is without it.

So, she's finished!

My original plan was to do her as a Japanese figure, but changed my plan into a redhead when I decided to do the octopus as a Pacific Giant Octopus, as the colours would match well.

TFW you're painting something that's incredibly... scrotal.

Now with hair.

#fanfanmodel #octopusgirl #workinprogress #crafty
Front on image again (see previous toot for context).

Skin has been gloss coated to make any over painting easier to fix, but more noticeably, she now has huge locks of red hair in soft curls.

For the colouring inspiration, it came pretty much from Wilma Flintstone, as the front curls reminded me of her.
[Painted miniature bust nudity]

Next model off the line.

This one is a #fanfanmodel called #octopusgirl (hence why I was asking for inspiring octopus pictures a few days back).

Quite pleased with her face at this point - although I still need to […]

Close up of her face. She's looking upwards, with a very worried expression. Her eyes are green, and she's (currently - still debating if I'm going to add any) not wearing any makeup.

She is missing the top of her head - as this will be covered by her hair, and then an octopus, later on. Full shot of the entire figurine. There's a white cylindrical base that she's on.

Her figure is from bottom of ribcage upwards, and is dripping thick black liquid which is active as a support.

Her right breast (she is cartoonishly well endowed) contains a rectangular socket for a seating plug of the octopus.

There is a tentacle coming down between her breasts and looping around her left breast, deforming it slightly into _even perkier_ shape. Photograph of the entire model from her 3 o'clock. Photo of the entire model from her 11 o'clock, showing the wrapped tentacle - and her right nipple is pointed pretty much directly at the camera.

The odd shape of the top and back of her head is very visible here, where the hair pieces will attach.
[SciFi (humanesque) nudity]

Finished the #zbboy #jetbikedemon on Tuesday.

Here's some shots I grabbed this morning. I'm a long way from happy with the result. But I learned lots, which is key for me, so yay.

Question for the Fediverse...

What's your favourite _looking_ octopus?

I have an octopus to paint as part of a resin model. It's a decent size (palm of my hand?) and a core focus of the print, so I want to do it justice.

Google image search is full of AI and hue-shifted clickbaits, so I […]

Another model underway... To be fair, it's been underway for a while , but it seems I haven't shared any #workinprogress shots yet, apologies!

This is a print from AliExpress, so no idea of the actual model name, but it's from #zbboy and I think […]

View from the right side of the model, which is the front of the bike (as it is positioned going left to right across the frame).

There are four radiator grills visible on the front, two large ones either side of the mainline, and two smaller ones on the outside of the body. The mainline ones are painted glowing red, the outer ones glowing cancerous green. The glow effects are my first attempt, so not very good.

The shape of the front is a very Art Deco futuristic shape.

Underneath the bike is a swirling dust cloud acting as a stand for the bike at an angle. A view from about 1 o'clock horizontal of the jet bike (about 10 o'clock from the front of the model).

The body frame of the bike is a metallic red. This angle shows the bike has some wooden ski skids underneath, and a brown leather seat.

Some hints of a large jet engine are visible under the seat. View from the back side, showing the back of the engine, with both the engine fins and separate exhaust attacks with heat bluing evident (again, first attempt at this, and over-done).

Swirling dust cloudv stand also visible at the bottom left of the image Full side photo (of the back side, although the two sides are mirror copies) showing the jet engine and pipes.

One thing I miss about Twitter is being able to ask a question like "Did ANZAC troops on the Western Front in WWI paint kiwi or other symbols on their Brodie helmets?" and actually get relatively regularly expert input.

The Fedi rocks. But it's very fractured 😔

I see #miniaturepainting people going around calling themselves noobs or saying their work isn't good enough, so this seems a good moment to repeat the #10commandmentsofminiaturepainting !

[Photos of a painted bare chested resin figurine]

I realised at the end that I had gone FAR too light with the skin tones at the end, so airbrushed on the Strong Tone Wash - and am actually REALLY pleased with the outcome, it brought it all together […]

[Original post on mastodon.philtanner.com]
All four photos are of the same figurine.

It's a bust, from the bottom of the rib cage upwards, without arms.

The model is a ridiculously over-endowed woman (the sculpter had clearly never encountered large breasts "in the wild" - and only seen very poor silicone implants) with unfeasibly perky breasts.

She's got a Bandana around her head, is looking down to her right, and is wearing a Royal Navy coat, in the style of the 1600s.

She's looking very pale, like she's been scared to death, or is a vampire. The photo is taken from about 2 o clock high. Same figurine, photo from about 2 o'clock low Similar photo to the first, but after the strong tone wash had been airbrushed on top Photo from about 11 o'clock low, after the strong tone wash has been applied
Been doing some skin tone painting with the airbrush, and realised I had forgotten what mix I usually use, so thought I should probably document it for future reference 😂

So. Here's the list:
1: Humbrol #1 grey enamel primer
2: black shadows
3 […]

Finished the #ladyofthelake in record time - tried out Vallejo's Transparent Water, Water Effects for the first time.

Relatively pleased with the outcome, but is it just expensive Gesso?

View from the back.
The water is a deep emerald/algae green.

The model is facing away from us, and has very long dark hair (below the buttocks).

She also has a sheer white dress clinging to her.. Close up of her face, looking directly at the camera.

Her nearly black hair is slicked back from her forehead, her right hand holding the back of her neck with wet hair cascading over it.

Her left hand sits on her left shoulder, and her gaze is a cross between demure, brazen, and defying.

She has blazing bright blue eyes, and a very pale complexion. Full frontal view. Her right leg is ahead of her left, crossed over.

Her elbows are forward (with her hands on her shoulders) covering her breasts, and are trailing tendrils of wet hair.
I was a bit worried earlier on that I'd gone too pale. But painting her hair has really made it feel like it's starting to come together.

#ladyofthelake #crafty
Photograph of the model. She's now got very dark brunette hair. The skin tones are very pale still, but no longer feeling "washed out".

The fabric covering her torso now looks a different colour too, almost translucent white maybe.

She's definitely looking like she's just stepping out of the water.
Some in progress shots as I lay down some flesh tones.

Started with a base of Game Air "Flesh" (72.769), then added highlights of Game Color "Pale Flesh" (72.003), then Game Air "Pale Flesh" (72.703), and then mixed some Army Painter Air "Yeti […]

Trying a new basing colour. I'm wanting a much colder tone to this model than the usual warm flesh tones I go for, so rather than base in a reddish brown, I've gone for a blue violet.

Really, I think I’m having more fun making canon-offensive Warhammer figures than I ever would playing the game. We’ll see how she paints up.
A 3D-print of a Warhammer 40K Space Marine with the head and pigtails of Hatsune Miku. The grey resin is not yet primed or painted.

#kyaaten has now been finished, and based.

I'm sorry there's no alt-text for these.

I knew those COVID RAT waste bags were going to be good for _something_.

Turns out, they're perfect for holding my basing materials once I've opened the original sealed plastic bags they came in. The "zip-lock" tops are great for resealing them.

#modelling #reuse #recycle
3 zip lock bags, containing various basing materials. On the bags is printed:
"Rapid Covid-19(Antigen)
Self-Test
Waste Bag"

In the left bag is Geek Gaming Scenics "Base Ready, Large Rocks". In the middle is their "Desert Sand and Stone", and the right most bag is their "Tropical Beach". This bag has the price tag from the original bag attached to it.

The bags are lying on a kitchen worktop, very similar in colour to the Tropical Beach basing materials.
