Weird, thoughtful, and quiet. Not necessarily in that order.
It’s just better than nothing. :)

Agreed.

And maybe even better in many (most) cases. We unfortunates who have only read The Iliad and The Odyssey, which were written down because it was better than nothing.

Outside of that singular context I don’t see a useful distinction between having “read” a book and having “listened” to it. In 95% of contexts did you read that book if you listened to it? Yes.

There has been a time or two when someone has been specifically discussing the nature of reading where someone has referred to interacting with an audiobook as “reading” and it struck me as wrong, but—BUT

Not everything has to be revisited. :)

So useless and so true.

Commissions would increase priority for any game on this list or any possible additions.

I’m not expecting any, but just saying.

I really want to play V. Maybe I’ll finally do that this year.

Argh I want these new covers now

This isn’t a self-pity post. I’m still writing. For good or for bad I am always writing. If it is mostly for me then so be it. I am sufficient.

As opposed to 13 which feels like one big, endless, beautifully decorated hallway.

I’m also just not sure that Final Fantasy works in full-3D worlds, and 10/10-2 at the beginning of the PS2 era hit the best balance of making 2D worlds feel open and 3D while keeping movement and narrative focused and moving.

3, 5, 10-2, and 14 all have some version of a job/class change system, which I think is fun. I love the way 10-2 integrates a light and joyful tone with a sense of melancholy.

I watched multiple film versions of A Christmas Carol last year and was surprised at how much I enjoyed nearly all of them. As a story, it holds up.

I am fond of X-2.

I’ve played most of III and a solid bit of XIII and can’t particularly recommend either. I dipped into XV but didn’t last long. I own but have never loaded XVI.

Modern eyes and all that.

It’s a funny series to evaluate, as the games usually have so little to do with each other. I can say that IV, VII, X, and XIV are solid. I would like to play V and VIII. I feel bad about not having played VI, but have had to confront the reality that it is not always easy to play the older entries.
