I make computers do my bidding ( mostly )
Finally got to watch #Wonderman - that was great!

I felt like the episodes flew by - didn’t feel like there was any filler at all.

Guess I’ll be watching the doorbell camera to watch for any snow we might get. #chswx

Someone hating right wing ideologies that hurt or kill others is easy to understand.

But I can’t explain hating left or liberal ideologies - “Oh no, they are feeding the poor, housing the homeless, and giving me free healthcare.”

Doesn’t make sense.

I really am talking to myself here - seven real followers, or at least I think those are all real.
I hate that we have to “block” vs “remove“ followers here @support.bsky.team

I saw the GitHub issue thread on this so I understand it’s complicated but I’d still rather have removal available.

The NFL is a good distraction today.

I wonder if Tony Romo is any good at Madden ?

There is nothing patriotic about a government that is murdering its own citizens. This is completely wrong and shameful.

Along the coast we’re not getting anything close to the winter weather other places are, but a tip I’ll share from living through a few Wisconsin winters:

Cover your face as much as possible if you have to out in extreme windy cold, including your eyes! Mine got so wrecked when I didn’t.

My own best use case for the cloud at work has been quickly spinning up a test infrastructure entirely inside AWS. It’s fast to stand up and fast to tear down.

But the costs to deploy anything useful to the cloud for home use is still too much - so everything lives on UNRAID, docker, etc.

I remember meeting someone from Florida and they went on a huge rant about “immigrants not speaking English”.

I kept trying to get them to explain exactly why that bothered them so much but got no answers beyond “deport them”.

They are a typical ICE supporter these days probably.

Nerd rant incoming.

If you build a company to sell products that are based on open source software but you don’t contribute anything back to that community at *all*, you are a complete loser.

I had a conversation with a company like this - they slapped a web UI on all very popular app.

Grew up with Computer Chronicles as one of the few consistent sources for tech news and information that wasn’t a magazine in those days. It was part of my inspiration for getting into Computer Science and Engineering.

He will be missed.

Just screaming into the void after yet another person “tried AI” instead of reading the actual documentation for an application.

The yearly tradition of putting out snacks for delivery drivers has yielded no insight into what are the most popular snacks.

However, while reviewing the video footage, I have learned that many drivers don’t know how to make a 3 point turn.

The magical time of year where I add more songs to my Plex Christmas Songs library.

Recovering from back surgery, and my surgeon did me a solid by basically going in through the previous incision spot from 13 years ago. Glued me back together so didn’t get yet another new scar.

I don’t know if this will stop the issues I have but hopefully it will keep it from getting worse.

It’s really nice of past me writing good Git commit messages explaining what I was doing in this code I haven’t touched in years.

It should be “Blue Friday”, not “Black Friday”, as in “I overpaid for a bunch of crap and blue through my budget.”

Messing with the kitchen cabinets today made me think - what if there was a horror movie where the characters were chased through a house full of soft close doors ?

Somewhat shocked that I submitted a map correction to Uber and they actually fixed it in only a few days.

It took Apple a month to fix the last report I gave them about a map error.

I had to block someone I followed on other platforms because they were reposting some of the most hateful stuff out there regarding SNAP.

I was following them because they had been interesting and funny, and never showed that side of themselves before now. But bigots gonna bigot I guess.

It is frustrating to no end to open a support ticket with Amazon’s Cloud Services team and have them apparently not read anything I wrote and respond with generic answers.

It feels like they run my question through ChatGPT and find keywords to match canned answers.

I guess this is probably an example of a good use of AI.
