Very proud of Wrack and Ruin: The Rubble Film at DEFA. It collects some of the earliest and most important East German films, all made in the immediate aftermath of WWII. Producing this box involved many, many hours of digging through the DEFA / PROGRESS Film archives – all of them worth it.

Yeah, it has to be said that I was only talking about a couple of people here and the headline was spun out of context. It's also quite ironic in that I think the joy on set really comes across in the documentary. You'll be happy to hear it went down very well at the weekend.

Just got my hands on Heart of Stone (1950), the first East German film shot in colour. It's a grand fairy tale from Paul Verhoeven (not that one, the German one) given the deluxe treatment on Blu-ray by Eureka / Masters of Cinema under the watchful eye of producer @craigimann.bsky.social.
