Excited to announce our latest preprint, exploring the stereochemistry & antiviral properties of natural product MM46115 (pellemicin) against influenza. 🦠 💊 Big thanks to all co authors, including @afifahtasnim.bsky.social @craigpthomp.bsky.social and others. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

- Both H5 and H7 subtype influenza viruses show some degree of neutralisation through receptor binding site-adjacent epitopes.
craigpthomp.bsky.social
- H7 subtype viruses are primarily neutralised by antibodies targeting the HA head domain, whilst H5 subtype viruses are mainly neutralised by antibodies
targeting the HA stem region.

- H7 HA total antibody responses are dominated by non-glycan-targeted IgG2 antibodies while H5 HA total antibody responses are primarily IgG1 dominated.

Key findings:
- Population immunity to potential pandemic H5, H7, H9 subtype influenza viruses varies significantly across different age groups. These trends align with historical circulation patterns of seasonal H1N1 and H3N2 viruses in humans.

I am very excited to share our preprint: ‘Divergent antibody-mediated population immunity to H5, H7 and H9 subtype potential pandemic influenza viruses’.

The first authors are Lucas Benjamin Stolle, Jai Bolton, Rebecca Steventon & Reanna Gregory.
