Now I do admit when I spec'ed my laptop I deliberately chose the exact AMD Ryzen 7 CPU that AMD provide full Linux hardware support for, including the imbedded GPU so I knew it would all just work. But getting GPU, Audio, Ethernet and Wifi working are just not issues any more.

On Opensuse I have Yast and on Linux Mint I have a great suite of tools inheritied from ubuntu.
In all honestly I only use Linux Mint on my personal Laptop, MacOS on my M1 mac Mini and I am tied to Windows 11 on the work provided laptop. Guess which one causes most hassles?

The comments on the article are hilarious.... cleary written by people who have not used Linux in the last decade or two... Hard to configure? comandline needed for logs etc.. FFS I cannot remember the last time I needed a terminal for that.

If you want to give modern Sonic fan games a go too, You shoudl really take a look at SonicGX released last november for the Amstrad GX4000 / plus machines.

Actually I am kinda with you on the CD front. I had to replace my Technics 5 disc changer as it refused to play CD-R's then again it was really very old! so I got a much newer 5 disc changer. A Yamaha CD-C603 and I love it.

Good luck, if you get any problems let me know. Worse case I can post you up a loan of a dedicated lower rom board you can use to test the ram. At least we both live on the island of Ireland.
