Good values are often aspirational. We espouse and fall short. But trying is the point. This current administration has no positive values. They value power and are motivated by greed. No life. No love. No compassion. No goodness. Ou value as a country is only as good as rour values lived out.

Several people have expressed the challenges of this political time. The ones that express my concern are those that point out that the social contract that we operated under is no longer in effect. We use to operate that “Do unto others …”or “❤️ your neighbor” was agreed upon. But no longer. Sigh.

The first step in influencing others is to take their world view as seriously as they do. We have a little less than two years in which to influence people who chose trump. We need to know them and their world, not dismiss it. Then appeal to their better angels in hopes of winning some.

When people say, we’ve never been here before, culturally and/or politically, we’ve entered an adaptive challenge. First step is to admit we don’t know what to do. Second step, form communities to try out new ways of being a people who care for those most at risk in this time. Then act.
