For me this phenomenon is linked to the paradoxical motivation problem of ADHD - if i try to motivate myself with a reward for a trivial task, the bigger the reward, the more friction in dealing with the initial task; same thing with how a task being more important makes it more daunting.

I don’t know if it’s a fair choice, since they have a whole album of quasi country ones, but I’m partial to this one by the Magnetic Fields (as well as of “Papa Was A Rodeo)
