Made some glorious stock from ham and pork bones yesterday, for which my favorite use is slow cooked beans. After soaking overnight, it's into a 300⁰F oven with baby limas, sliced pork jowl, onion, bay leaves, pepper and a dash of Worcestershire sauce. The hard part is the waiting... 🍽️

Tried a new focaccia bread recipe from Zojirushi for my bread machine this afternoon. Not quite the crumb I would wish for but pretty decent really, considering the little effort I had to put into it. Hubs loved it. 🍽️

What burns me is that we've had laws since the last Gilded Age that addressed this but we chose not to enforce them. Market consolidation is a huge problem for consumers and both sides are complicit. 😡

One of my favorite CDs of theirs is Brasil which introduced me to Brazilian artists Gilberto Gil and Djarvan. Their Christmas album is still high on my holiday playlists.

So today, my first attempt at English muffins. I decided on King Arthur's recipe which uses a preferment . Overall quite pleased. Lunch with toasted muffins, chicken salad and broccoli cheddar soup.🍽️

I always say, if you lack patience and or can't handle disappointment, don't take up gardening. You can do everything right and still have a bad harvest. We've been gardening on our one acre for 35 years through wet weather, drought and deer problems, but we persist. It's worth it 4 yrs like this.

Bought a beautiful American wagyu flat iron steak at Costco last Thursday, so a piece is going on the grill tonight. One of my favorite rubs for grilled beef is the California rub recipe I got from the NYT cookbook years ago. Thought I'd share with anyone interested. 🍽️

Hubs likes chicken noodle soup, actually noodle chicken soup, in his case so today that's what I made. So homemade stock and homemade noodles. The vegetables were my idea. 🙄🍽️

😂🤣 I don't remember reading about that one. I do remember enjoying the shoe incident in 2008 when an Iraqi journalist threw both his shoes at George Bush one of which would have hit him had he not ducked in time. 😂
