I find the association dynamics within these pods so interesting. During my limited orca viewing time last year, I saw the T36/T36Bs and the T99s. But now the T137s are really starting to fascinate me too!

This is such good news. I have been following this story all year. I see this as not just the best thing for these two intelligent animals, but also a proof of concept for future sanctuaries, that may even serve as an easier off ramp to end captivity quicker. I do worry for the BNDs though.

They are also difficult to photograph. I've seen 2 in my life. The second time I was fortunate that there were fish and birds at the surface, so I knew the minke was feeding and I would know roughly where it surfaces, but the first time, you get 3 or 4 seconds to snap a photo between 5 minute dives.
