Happy Birthday to former #Cubs closer Lee Smith. Lee played 18 seasons. He was a dominant closer and held the MLB career saves record (478) from 1993 until 2006. He was a seven-time All-Star and was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019. Happy Birthday Lee!

It was #OTD in 1984 that Ryne Sandberg was named the NL MVP. Ryno finished the season with a .314 batting average, 19 triples, 19 home runs, 84 RBI, and an NL-best 114 runs scored, won the Gold Glove and Silver Slugger awards, was named to the All Star team, and led his team to the postseason
