I have honestly lost the count on how many times they have ignored it or tried to argue it as a good thing, when a movie and/or filmmaker they have chosen put on a pedestal does a thing they treat as an irredeemable flaw when presented in a MCU production.

John Rhys-Davies is my go-to example of this type of actor. He has played Scottish, Egyptian and Spaniard, just to name some examples.

The picture of the main character (I presume) made me think "is this a Go Nagai manga" and then these panels made me nod and go "this is a Go Nagai manga".

Or just reboot again and not worry at all how the previous movie ended.
November 15, 2025 at 10:25 PM
That fan theory doesn't hold any water, when actually looking at the movies. Bond's dead wife being the connecting element. The timeline is floating, working on a comic book logic, and from Connery to Brosnan Bond is supposed to be the same person.
November 15, 2025 at 10:24 PM
I think they should simply start with another clean-slate reboot, treat the ongoing storylines as a signature element of Craig-era and go back to standalone adventures, where there can be callbacks to the previous movies, but continuity doesn't actually matter.
November 13, 2025 at 5:40 AM
Because a recasting is something that we should just treat as a "gimmie", where no chance happens in-universe.
November 13, 2025 at 3:35 AM
Sure, but I would just start the next era of Bond with another clear-cut reboot and keep the ongoing storylines as a signature "oddity" of Craig-era, allowing the series to go back to the standalone adventures, where there can be callbacks, but continuity doesn't actually matter.
November 12, 2025 at 7:25 PM
Or heck, the agency would even allow any of their "Bonds" to have a personal life with that persona, risking the cover getting blown by numerous different ways?
November 12, 2025 at 7:21 PM
So Lazenby wouldn't want to get involved with avenging his wife? Connery would be brought out of retirement just to avenge his successor's wife? Moore would look devastated on her grave, even though no one else was there? Blofeld would never comment on three of his enemies using the same name?
November 12, 2025 at 7:20 PM
That's a fan theory, which doesn't actually work when looking at the movies, with things like every Bond having the same dead wife. While the timeline is a floating one, from Connery to Brosnan Bond is supposed to be the same person, Craig being a clear-cut reboot.
November 12, 2025 at 3:56 AM
Bond's wife dies on the arms of Lazenby, Connery avenges her, Moore visits her grave and both Dalton and Brosnan reference her.
November 12, 2025 at 3:50 AM
It really didn't. From Connery to Brosnan there were too many callbacks and small pieces of continuity for the fake name theory to make sense.

Pre-Craig (whose era was a clear-cut reboot) Bond was simply a floating timeline.
November 12, 2025 at 3:47 AM
It makes more sense that every single agent given the same codename happens to have a dead wife called Tracy, than have the suspension of disbelief for floating timeline?
November 12, 2025 at 3:40 AM
The codename theory doesn't actually work, when you have things like Bond's wife dying on the hands of Lazenby, Connery avenging her and Moore visiting her grave.

Not defending the meme (or more specifically, people who spread it unironically), but I think it was more about the show's meta commentaries on writing than the science.
November 12, 2025 at 3:28 AM
I'm sorry, but arguments like this are inherently lame. You aren't invating conversation, just basically saying "if you try to argue back, you are just proving my flawed logic"
November 4, 2025 at 11:02 AM
Even if I agreed in regards to Maul, there's a galaxy of difference between taking a blank slate and putting something on it and taking a character, who already had their story-arc completed (however one feels about the execution) and trying to start it over.

Why?

While Halloween stands perfectly as a standalone picture and the ending moment can only be made lesser by adding more, at least some of the sequels (4 and 2018) are pretty good, if you can look past that.

Meanwhile, Hellraiser had zero good sequels. All of them sucked and the reboot was only meh.

I dunno, both Highlander 3 and the-direct-to-video anime were decent. By no means must-watches, but perfectly harmless and watchable.
