...a few seconds later, a loud wave of noise covered it all up, and when it subsided, the melody was gone, and in that moment i realized that was the last time i was ever gonna hear that melody. the last time i was gonna hear ANY melody. the rest of the album was just noise.

absolutely devestating.

in one of the last "stages", where the music had completely devolved into noise, i heard an actual note for the first time in a long time. it was faint, but i recognized it, so i desperately tried to follow the melody and figure out where i know it from...

and because its so long, *you literally forget what the original songs sounded like*, and whenever you hear a vaguely familiar melody you wonder if this is a real memory or simply your imagination.

the degradation of the music is so gradual that you barely even notice until suddenly you find yourself listening to a song that is completely unintelligible and you ask yourself how it got this bad. and you know it will only get worse from there.
