If we won’t believe that Genesis 1 describes a week of time at the beginning of history, we actually deny the words of God that He Himself wrote on the stone tablets (Exodus 32:16). Do you really believe God?

The genealogies are given to us to show that Genesis 1 is real history. Genesis gives us a chrono-genealogy: a genealogy with numbers. We are given the age of each father when he has his next son. You cannot insert any long periods between Adam and Jesus.
