The adult saddleback moth. Their life lasts roughly 10 days. They emerge in June and July, and busy themselves in producing the next generation.

This is the saddleback caterpillar, acharia stimulea and belongs to the family of slug caterpillars called limacodidae. Kinda cute and goofy isn't it?

With a popping sound, this cute being can send a hot, noxious chemical spray that is fatal to its enemy. While it's spray can kill other insects, it will only cause humans mild irritation. Such as blisters and a burning sensation.

The puss caterpillar is actually venomous. Their 'fur' contain spines that are extremely painful if touched. The pain has been described as 'white hot', similar to a broken bone or blunt force.

The megalopyge opercularis as a caterpillar looks like a moving mustache or cat and is called woolly slug, puss caterpillar or fire caterpillar. Makes you want to touch them right?
