We’re delighted to share the news that AHRC #CreativeCommunities will be supporting Dundee’s creative space ambitions through a year-long joint research project from @dundee.ac.uk & Creative Dundee, led by Community Innovation Practitioner Eilish Victoria.

An orange rectangle bordered by a dark blue line and a yellow triangle. Blue writing reads ‘AHRC Creative Communities Funding new CIPs 2025-2026’. An image of a map of the UK sits across all three shapes. The four nations of the UK are different colours and location pins point to specific cities taking part in the project. The logos of partners run along the bottom of the graphic in a white box. Eilish photographed in front of a brick wall, wearing a black and white abstract patterned shirt. Her photograph is in the centre of a blue, orange and yellow graphic, highlighted by a white outline. Below her photograph blue text in a white box reads ‘Community Innovation Practitioner Eilish Victoria’, followed by the logos for Creative Communities, Northumbria University, and AHRC.

Our work around access is ongoing and our learning as a team continues, but we hope that sharing this encourages other organisations and sectors to develop or build their own practices of care. 💛

With thanks to the steering group that supported this work and Katriona Gillon for the illustrations!

Guided by creative practitioners, we’ve been developing an Access Rider to better understand and support the needs of the people we work with.

We're now making it available as a free template for anyone to download, alongside further resources and learning from those who are leading this work:

Today marks 12 months since we opened the doors to our pilot creative space, Hapworks_00! 🎉 🙌

It's been brilliant to have over 1,250 folk visiting Hapworks_00 for events & programming by our team & others creatively activating the space – including workshops, gigs, exhibitions, coworking & more.

At the back of the room, there is a bright blue wall with the Hapworks_00 logo. People gathered in Hapworks_00 for an exhibition. Colourful prints are displayed on the large white walls and on a large central table. A large crowd are gathered in Hapworks_00. They stand in groups, chatting and drinking.
