Art as a process is different for everyone. Some people have the discipline to make a living out of doing it. Others just enjoy it as a pastime whenever the mood strikes them. Others make money on what they manage to create as a bonus. It's all valid.

Aw, champ, no. You don't have to like every second of every part of a process to like the thing. You can like chicken prepared one way, but not another, right?
I promise you, I *love* writing, and weeks at a time won't even look at my laptop. Or I'll sit down to write and end up on Bluesky instead.

I'm sorry that you're feeling this struggle, and I hope you're able to find a solution that brings you satisfaction and closure, if not joy :)

Then maybe you can allow yourself to let go and find something else you will enjoy doing more. No one should have to do a job that stifles them or that they don't enjoy.

Well, that's something you will have to look inside yourself to find a true answer to. It is possible that you've just lost your passion for the job. I know that art school burned me out and soured my love of art for years after I left it. If you've grown outside of this profession- 1/2

It's not a laziness problem! Writing, while it can be a fun process, is also work, and requires a certain amount of discipline to get it done. I'm part of a few writer's circles, and I can promise you that you're not alone in how you feel :)

Well. At one point you liked writing, yes? And you seem to keep trying to go back to it. It sounds like, if some part of you likes (or wants to like) writing, but you're failing to do much of it, it could be a problem of focus. Not a sign that it's not for you. ♥️

While this is *sometimes* true, remember that we don't have to mortgage our house to see the doctor and get those tests and scans.
If you're paying for a service, I'd expect a much better wait time.

She misses a lot of conversations, and she'd probably have an easier time at her job if she could speak the elven language better (she's head of city watch, and the elven population there is distrustful of cops).

Not even close to her old names. She's a damn good marksman, and she started in the rebellion by teaching the hapless soldiers how to shoot. They started calling her Mark, because she never misses. She felt the new name suited her better.
