Mistral AI's Le Chat runs 13x faster than ChatGPT, processes 1,000 words per second compared to ChatGPT's 650, and shows better image generation capabilities than DALL-E. The system operates with API costs at $8 per million tokens, while GPT-4 charges $30.

According to the EU's Copernicus Programme, January 2025 was globally the warmest January on record with a 13.23°C average temperature, measuring 1.75°C above pre-industrial levels. Most remarkable: this record warmth occurred during La Niña conditions, which typically provide a cooling effect (1/4)

Thanks to the heroic efforts of the pilots, the aircraft managed to reach the coast despite hydraulic failure and severely limited controls. While they couldn't prevent the crash, their actions still saved numerous lives.

Rewetting degraded peatlands immediately halts CO2 emissions and can restore their carbon sink function. Peatland restoration is among the most cost-effective nature-based solutions for climate mitigation. (7/8)
December 6, 2024 at 11:16 AM
In Europe, 46% of peatlands are degraded, rising to 50% within the EU. While covering just 3% of agricultural land, drained peatlands produce 25% of EU agricultural emissions, with countries like Germany and Netherlands having over 80% of their peatlands drained. (6/8)
December 6, 2024 at 11:16 AM
Agriculture drives European peatland drainage, with 15% used as meadows and pastures. Forestry is second largest in Nordic countries, while peat extraction - though smaller in area - has the most profound impact through complete removal of vegetation and carbon stocks. (5/8)
December 6, 2024 at 11:16 AM
While 88% of global peatlands remain intact, Europe leads in peatland drainage. Globally, we lose 500,000 hectares of intact peatlands annually - ten times faster than their natural formation rate during the Holocene. (4/8)
December 6, 2024 at 11:16 AM
But drainage converts peatlands from carbon sinks to sources. Globally, drained peatlands emit ~2 Gt CO2 annually - about 5% of anthropogenic emissions, rivaling the entire global aviation sector. (3/8)
December 6, 2024 at 11:16 AM
Peatlands cover only ~3% of Earth's land surface but are storing up to one-third of the world's soil carbon - twice as much as all forests combined. These wetland ecosystems are our most efficient terrestrial carbon sinks, accumulating carbon for millennia. (1/8)

❄️ In the last 100 years, Alpine snowfall data from 46 measuring stations shows a 34% overall decrease, with southern regions seeing up to 50% reduction. Most changes are seen below 2000m, where rising temperatures turn snow into rain 🏔️

"In this context, the available evidence does not indicate that Famine is currently occurring."?
