you probably want to configure tone mapping in your player of choice (you can also re-encode the file via something like handbrake). i am not actually sure if you get served a completely different source depending on whether your display supports HDR in various streaming services

should be theoretically possible for terminals that support the kitty image protocol (sw.kovidgoyal.net/kitty/graphi...) by piping HDR PNGs into it

depending on what OS you have, Windows Remote Desktop is surprisingly good over a local connection and it also syncs audio + clipboard

you probably figured this out already, but just in case, you can do most of what xcode does through xcode command line tools. pretty sure this extends to signing release builds
