Nothing like Taylor Swift has ever happened before.
There's no parallel to her in history. In 2024, she's at the peak of her fame, her cultural and commercial impact, her artistic powers, her warp-speed work pace.
But she's been at this level for eighteen years. This just never happens. Nobody's had a run like this, getting more popular and prolific all the time, still at the top of the game. There's nobody you can compare her to, not even the greats. The Beatles' whole run as recording artists lasted eight years, yet at that point, she was just taking off with 1989.

I was at uni there in the late 80s. Used to be a regular venue on the rock/ indie circuit - saw the Manics (inc. Richey) on their first tour. My band played a few student band nights. Nothing of that band survives, but a few slightly later songs here…

Worth remembering they were not “proper” matches - England used 13 players batting/ bowling today. An early collapse like today in a real match would have very different consequences.
