I'm not as optimistic about that, though I would like to have seen what would happen if dems had just ignored the other sides' messaging and focused on more ambitious positive changes/ policies. I appreciate the convo.

Sure, though I would argue, it's easier to point out all the flaws of something than to defend it, which is why the pendulum keeps swinging back and forth (while we still have fair elections).

The problem is the positive vision we would want to offer people are all things the right has convinced them are the evils plaguing society. "DEI" "Socalism" etc.

The programs they are destroying are indeed linked to those in some way, and those will take work to replace or get back.

The destruction Trump is now causing was a major part of her message, people didnt seem to believe it or care. I agree that her messaging had issues, but people seem to take our stable foundation for granted. We are about to see how "nearly just as bad" the status quo dems really are.

They're already inspired by a big shiny vision. If you can swap that out with something else, whats to say they dont get inspired by the next big fad?
Inspiration seems better suited to building up a more resilient system and restraining said volcano once they realize how destructive it is.

Unfortunately, people often need to "find out" before they are willing to cooperate with you. You need to direct the anger towards the actual cause, as Trump and his media will give them someone else to blame. That being said, the smugness is not helping anyone swallow a bitter pill.
