Sapporo is awesome in general and if you're going to do a sidetrip for snowboarding, but Sendai is going to be pretty dead (they get more snow than Sapporo iirc but less winter sports around)

I'd really be interested in checking out China sometime, the trip reports I've seen have looked really cool, it's just such a huge country, there's so much to do, and so much of it feels like an unknown compared to Japan or Korea that I feel like I have no idea where to even start.
