Are you concerned with damaging the cases? I feel like they would get scratched up or scuffed. I do feel your pain though - space is always a factor with my ever expanding collection

No offense, but I just could never wrap my head around stacking games vertically. Like do you not have them organized? Or do you have to lift the whole stack up to shove something back in the middle?
