I'd like to take this opportunity to make a categorical statement.

Fuck fossil fuels.

Have they got that bad? I'm an enthusiastic FOSS user myself, and it's hard for me to imagine how I could bother people with my enthusiasm. Do they literally start haranguing people out of the blue to use FOSS software?

I like Linux, and even I couldn't stand it.

'unwanted Linux advice' lol
The episode has sent more than a few Bluesky users to start wondering whether the snow-covered grass on Mastodon’s side of the road is worth considering.

But not everyone is looking forward to the idea: “I’d go back to Usenet before I went back to Mastodon,” wrote Bluesky user Count Von Horse Knuckler. “I do not need people yelling at me for not putting cat pictures behind trigger warnings or unwanted Linux advice.”

Reminded again.

When I think of the emotional and intellectual investments we make in artistic production and, by transference, in the artist, I'm reminded of this genealogy I read once by Dovid Katz.

Not sure what you mean by 'talked', but untranslated also replies to people here:

The same account posted the same review on twitter (at more or less the same time). Enjoy the book.

“Schattenfroh belongs thusly to the rare but foundational tradition of books that trouble the very relationship that a reader, young or mature, has to literature.”

Great review of Schattenfroh from Ignacio M. Sánchez Prado

I really like the hypothesis of us all reading and commenting on each other in long form, but empirically I doubt my commitment to it.

Ah, but have you ever tried daisy-chaining your thoughts?

There you go, a blog entry right there.
cristofol.org
I'm not going back to blogging because my thoughts are barely long enough for micro-blogging platforms.

Yes, socmedia was unique in collapsing the groupings of Usenet/BBS/forums (i.e. each BBS site has multiple groups etc.), I don't think it was ever going to recreate these tight communities despite attempts (hashtags etc.).

Quiero ver los 'recibos' (espero que me explique).

No. At least Mastodon gives you the choice of alternative servers. Although spinning up an alternative to the bsky server is theoretical possible, in practice it's not in reach of anybody other than well-funded tech organizations.

And the 'receipts', as if you needed them:
