Their main source of funding was Joann and they lost it when Joann shut down. If you’re interested in finding out more go here: looseends.org

A centralized discord + announcement channel other discords could follow and update would be a good way to share.

Also I made this cause my girlfriend is running Ori and the Blind Forest SBS today! So you should watch!

It’s 100% cotton and made using quilting batiks! It’s also been washed twice since quilting fabric tends to bleed, I’m really proud of it and I hope it can help raise some money for Malala Fund!

And then I had to quilt everything. Which actually was rather quick for once (this is also the spot I sent an email submitting the prize since I still had to bind it afterwards.)

I don’t have more pictures for this part but ori was a really irregular shape so I had to stabilize it AND square it up. So i sewed the remaining purple fabric to the sides and cut it at a tight angle to make a square. Then I just created the boarders using traditional piecing methods.

It’s important to note that a lot of this fabric was cut by hand and was on the bias so the front paper was kept on to avoid stretching of pieces. But after it was secured I could do this!

From there there was a lot of matching lines and sewing. Foundation paper piecing is fun cause after you sew you get to pull the perforated pieces from the back.

Then everything was organized by color so I could more easily group the larger shapes together

From the quilt assistant pattern, I had to cut out 377 paper pieces. Those pieces were glued to the fabric I’d be using Elmer’s glue.

Eventually I landed on the sleeping ori and cleaned it up enough to get the sketch into the quilting software I used and spent hours editing the pattern

Let me walk through the process: I started with two rough sketches, one based on ori from the cover of ori and the blind forest, the other based on a screenshot from the game.
