At times, I feel my voice is ragged, Too harsh and weak to reach a soul, And so I cough and writhe and cry, With nothing to do but clutch my throat. At times, I feel my voice is muffled, Far too soft in the world’s deep clamour, One day my weary whispers will fade, As all things do when left alone. At times, I feel my voice is dying, With no one to listen to my heart’s desires. My tongue cut out and hung to dry up, I’m going mute and fear the quiet. At times, I feel my voice is silent.
